The Butcher’s Block sits neatly on West Ave in Long Branch, blending the flair of a traditional steakhouse with the precision of a craft butcher shop. This isn’t just a place to grab a steak—though their Day Dry-Age Wagyu cuts, like the Porterhouse and T-Bone, certainly steal the spotlight—but a dining experience grounded in quality ingredients and attentive service.

Inside, the atmosphere strikes a balance between upscale and inviting. High ceilings and thoughtful decor make the space feel open yet intimate, ideal for quiet dinners or celebratory nights out. One notable quirk that adds a personal touch is a parrot greeting guests as they arrive, a small detail that hints at the place’s character.

Many diners come here for the steak, often choosing the “Steak for Two” option, complemented by sides and starters like the charred octopus or burrata, which appeal to those who appreciate fine preparation beyond just meat. On the lighter side, the Caesar and Bibb salads offer a fresh counterpoint to the hearty mains, crafted with homemade croutons and dressings that carry the kitchen’s signature touch of savory richness.

The service rhythm adapts well to groups large and small, with staff frequently noted for their attentiveness and genuine care. It feels like a spot where you can rely on expert recommendations, whether you’re pairing a glass of Pinot Noir or a robust Red Wine with your meal, or finishing with an espresso martini to close the night.

Price-wise, The Butcher’s Block leans toward the premium end, reflecting the quality and care poured into each dish. It’s the kind of place locals and visitors alike turn to when they want to savor meat-focused dishes crafted with confidence and a deep sense of culinary skill. Evening dinner service is when the place truly shines, but lunchtime visitors can also enjoy lighter soups and salads with similar polish.

Overall, if you’re someone who values thoughtful meat preparation, enjoys a polished yet relaxed environment, and appreciates staff that know their craft, The Butcher’s Block fits those needs well—especially for those in the Long Branch area seeking a refined dinner experience that pairs well with both conversation and celebration.

Absolutely, positively, FANTASTIC! Is it a bit pricey? Yes. Do you get what you pay for? Way beyond! This was the most delicious meal I'd ever eaten in my life. We started out with a few appetizers. The steak tartar (my personal favorite), the burrata, and the octopus. Everything was perfect. The burrata was perfectly buttery, the octopus was blanched to absolute perfection, and although I'd never had steak tartar to compare this to, it was exquisite! So creamy and delicious! I couldn't have asked for anything better. For dinner, we shared the 45 day, dry aged bourbon rib eye, the 8 0z spinea, and 8 Oz waygu filet mignon. Everything was cooked to perfection. I'd never had the spinea before, and chef's recommendations was medium. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. We celebrated closing on our house, and I cant wait to come back. THIS IS THE BENCHMARK. Our server's name is Brandon, and if you have the privilege of dining with him, consider yourself lucky. Brandon is knowledgeable, helpful, attentive, friendly, and courteous. We are so lucky to have dined here, and I cant wait to come back!

The Butcher's Block is definitely one of best steakhouses and top restaurants, for that matter, to visit in all of New Jersey. The atmosphere and decor alone are out of this world and the porterhouse we had was amazing as well. We couldn't recommend this establishment highly enough, they even have a parrot at the front to greet you during check-in!

I don’t think I have ever been Wow’d like this ever in my life. Service - second to nobody! The Ambiance/Architecture - Second to nobody!! Food - second to nobody!! That Bread - Second to nobody!!!! We were with a party of 26. Let me tell you, the service hit the mark 100% and then some. Beyond exceptional!! Even when I walked around to admire the entire restaurant and browse, the staff was beyond amazing!! Again, this establishment hits the mark 100%. I even got to meet the butcher and the General Manager even stopped by the table to routinely check on us. We got to try almost everything on the menu. Most memorable - EVERYTHING, literally!!

I recently had the pleasure of celebrating my 38th birthday at Butcher’s Block, and it was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we made our reservation via email back in August, the team was incredibly accommodating, ensuring every detail was perfect for our special occasion. We kicked off the evening with the seasonal Crudo, featuring exquisite bluefin tuna that was fresh, vibrant, and simply melted in the mouth—an absolute highlight. The Caesar salad was another standout, generously portioned for two and bursting with flavor, perfectly balancing crisp romaine, creamy dressing, and just the right amount of crunch. For our main course, we opted for the Australian Wagyu skirt steak, cooked to a flawless medium-rare. It was tender, juicy, and packed with rich, savory depth. The accompanying sides—brussels sprouts and fingerling potatoes—were expertly prepared, offering a delightful mix of textures and flavors that complemented the steak beautifully. Dessert was a seasonal crème brûlée that was pure indulgence, with a perfectly caramelized crust giving way to a silky, flavorful custard. We capped the night with espresso martinis and espresso, both of which were impeccably crafted and the perfect end to an unforgettable meal. Our waiter, JT, deserves special praise for his attentiveness and warmth. He anticipated our every need, making the experience feel personal and seamless. While Butcher’s Block is undeniably on the pricier side, it’s worth every penny for a special occasion like this. The ambiance, service, and food all come together to create something truly exceptional. We left feeling delighted and already looking forward to our next visit. For anyone seeking a memorable dining experience, I wholeheartedly recommend Butcher’s Block!
